Blocks

Blocks are fragments of text that are then combined together to form sections. You can add fields, header text, paragraphs, images, tables, and embedded documents; these can then be formatted as desired. Docbuilder pre-built blocks you can add:

Block Types

Currently Wavebid has the following blocks available for inclusion in a section:

  • Section Title.
  • Paragraph.
  • 2-column paragraphs.
  • 3-column paragraphs.
  • 2-columns: Text on the left, image on the right.
  • Text paragraph wraps around an image aligned to the right.
  • 2-columns: Image on the left, text on the right.
  • Text paragraph wraps around an image aligned to the left.
  • Single image.
  • 2 images side by side.
  • 3 images side by side.
  • 4 images side by side.
  • PDF Content.
  • Table.
  • Calendar.
  • Page break.

Section Title

This block adds a header to the page. It will not add it to the Table of Contents.

Text Blocks

From the list above the following contain text mostly text:

  • Paragraph.
  • 2-column paragraphs.
  • 3-column paragraphs.
  • 2-columns: Text on the left, image on the right.
  • Text paragraph wraps around an image aligned to the right.
  • 2-columns: Image on the left, text on the right.
  • Text paragraph wraps around an image aligned to the left.

The text can be formatted as desired just like any other text. The images may be resized by dragging the left or the bottom edges of the image placeholder.

Image Blocks

From the list above the following contain only images:

  • Single image.
  • 2 images side by side.
  • 3 images side by side.
  • 4 images side by side.
  1. Drag the image block to the desired position in the section.
  2. Click on the block to bring up the file chooser:
    • If you have already uploaded a file, click on it to highlight it in blue, then click Ok.
    • Click Upload to pick a file from your computer to be uploaded to the block.
  3. The image will be displayed within the block.

The images may be resized by dragging the left or the bottom edges of the image placeholder. Only single images can have their alignment adjusted.

To view the available images go to the Images tab; this applies both when building a template and when editing a document.

PDF content 

This block lets you add a PDF file which will then become part of the document:

  1. Drag the PDF Content block to the desired position in the section.
  2. Click on the block to bring up the file chooser:
  • If you have already uploaded a file, click on it to highlight it in blue, then click Ok.
  • Click Upload to pick a file from your computer to be uploaded to the block.
  1. The filename will be displayed within the block.

To view the available images go to the PDFs tab; this applies both when building a template and when editing a document.

Table

This block places a table on the document, working the same way as a Table Advanced field but the data is stored separately in the database. To manage the available tables go to My Links > Company > Document Builder > Admin, then go to the Tables tab.

Table blocks need to be created within a template. They cannot be created for a single document.

In the Grid Editor you can view the list of saved tables or enter the name of a new table. The rest of the process is the same as creating a Table Advanced Field:

  • Set whether to show cell borders.
  • Each column name is entered in simple text.
  • Each row may be sorted in any desired order.
  • Each row can be shown by default in the block.
  • The values within each cell maybe for formatted as desired, and there is no limit to how much text each cell may hold. This formatting will be independent of the formatting applied to the block

To manipulate the contents of the table:

  • To add more columns click on  Add Column.
  • To add more rows click on  Add Row.
  • To remove a column click on the  Trash icon next to the column name.
  • To remove a row click on the  Trash icon in the row.

Once the table has the data you require make sure to click on the  Save button in the Page Actions menu on the top-right corner of the page. To create a new table, click on the  Create New Table button.

To delete a table click on the  Delete Calendar button on the top right corner of the page. Please be careful with this command as a deleted table cannot be recovered.

Calendar

This block places a Calendar on the document. To manage the available calendars go to My Links > Company > Document Builder > Admin, then go to the Calendars tab. From here you can view the list of saved calendars and edit them, or create your own. Table blocks need to be created within a template. They cannot be created for a single document.

To create a new calendar for use in your template:

  1. Enter the End Date for your calendar.
  2. Click on  Add Calendar Entry, then enter the name for it and how many days before the end date this event is to happen.
  3. Once you’re done adding calendar entries, click  Save in the Page Actions menu on the top right corner of the page.

Each calendar entry may be manipulated in a few ways:

  • Each entry may be sorted in any desired order.
  • Each entry can be enabled by default in the block.
  • To remove an entry click on the  Trash icon next to the column name.

To delete a calendar click on the  Delete Calendar button on the top right corner of the page. Please be careful with this command as a deleted calendar cannot be recovered.

Page Break

This block ends the current page of the document and starts a new one.
